Music & Health Services Manager
Tom is a music and health services manager based in Herefordshire. With a lifelong passion for music and a particular love of folk, traditional and ambient styles, Tom's musical journey has taken him from prestigious concert halls like St David's Hall Cardiff and Birmingham Symphony Hall to beloved local venues and festivals. His recordings have also featured on several Radio stations.
Tom plays a wide range of instruments including piano, saxophone, accordion, folk whistles, recorders and fiddle/viola and over the years has continued to expand his musical toolkit. He is an established professional with over 25 years' combined experience in the music and health sectors. Tom holds professional qualifications in Music Teaching, Primary Care Health Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health & Social Care Management. He is a registered member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and the Institute of Health & Social Care Management.
Beyond teaching and performing, Tom is passionate about composition, arranging, recording and music transcription. He is an experienced music engraver and has published original works, sheet music, and arrangements of songs by artists including Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Gavin James, Mark Knopfler, Adam Holmes, Boo Hewerdine, and The Cranberries. He is also the author of a short story, audiobook, and two music books.
Tom is committed to using music as a tool for community connection and emotional wellbeing. He is the founder and musical director of both the Hereford Community Choir and Hereford Folk Ensemble, leading inclusive music groups that support positive mental health through creative expression.
Tom maintains up to date training for safeguarding, data protection, first aid/medical emergencies, health & safety, dementia, learning disability & autism awareness and holds a valid enhanced DBS (child & adult workforce).
